A Drop in the Bucket

I visited Cambodia in 2007 with the intention of using my art to bring attention to the contemporary struggles of the Cambodian people as they endeavor to recover from the horrors of mass genocide. I learned that access to safe water is one of the greatest impediments. Over the past two years, I have built fifteen wells with the help of Sambrothers Clean Water Project and Journeys Within Our Community. In 2009, I traveled back to Cambodia to shoot a film, A Drop in the Bucket, to see the effects my wells have had on the lives of the people. The series of still photographs, which accompany the film, reflect the strength, dignity, and endurance of the Cambodian people. Through my work, I hope to illuminate and inspire a broad audience about the possibility, challenges, and promise that I found in Cambodia—and to make a small step towards a better tomorrow.
